Dongji Island

During World War II, a Japanese freighter carrying British prisoners of war sank in waters near Zhoushan, China, trapping thousands of them inside. In this desperate situation, a group of fishermen from Dongji Island stepped forward. Drawing on their inherent kindness, savagery, and courage, they braved the turbulent seas to carve a path for the stranded prisoners. This film is based on a true story of Chinese fishermen rescuing British prisoners of war.
