Black Sun: The Nanking Massacre

On December 11, 1937, the siege of Nanjing erupted in a bloody battle between China and Japan. The Japanese army frantically massacred unarmed Chinese civilians. At Zhongshan Gate, Japanese soldiers brutally massacred prisoners. At Zhonghua Gate, the commander of the Japanese 6th Division, Tani Hisao, declared that they were the first troops to capture Nanjing, a record that must be recorded in history. He ordered a three-day suspension of military discipline and declared that all Chinese women were comfort women. Nakajima Imao, commander of the Japanese 16th Division, led his troops into the Nationalist government and established his headquarters in Chiang Kai-shek"s office. Nanjing officially fell.
