Julio (Gael García Bernal) and Deno (Diego Luna), two best friends from a typical wealthy Mexican family, are left wondering how to kill their long, boring summer vacation when their energetic girlfriends go on trips abroad. At a party hosted by Deno"s family, attended by the president, they meet Rosa, Deno"s cousin"s Spanish wife, and are persuaded to take a trip to the legendary "Gates of Heaven." After several days apart, Rosa is heartbroken upon learning of her husband"s infidelity and calls Deno, asking to join the beach trip.
